The Story About Friends

It's strange.  There are things that have come of this horrible situation that make me happy/sad.  Let me explain...

I have met dozens of amazing individuals that I didn't know before or didn't know well...some of them neighbors, some of them people that read the blog, some of them family once-removed, some of them Steve's caregivers, some of them acquaintances.

I've never been a person who easily makes friends or reaches out socially.  This past year has made me see the importance of support systems...the need for community.

I wish that I could have met all of the same people without losing Steve.  He would have really loved getting to know all of you, too.

  1. Hmmmm....what a bittersweet perspective. And one I share--in that getting to know you and Steve here, makes me so wish I had known you there. Takes some of the fun out if it, doesn't it? But this is how it works. Folks' journeys overlap in odd ways and while there is much speculation and questions, it is probably best that we just keep walking and talking together. Friendship is a story all its own, with the history of 'how we met' as interesting as the next adventure. I just continue to meet you here to encourage, listen, reflect. And Deb, I am richer for doing so. Thank you for continuing an often hard dialogue that makes us all embrace life a little bit more.
