The Story About Looking for Daycare #2

We went to check out a daycare down the street from us when I was pregnant.  By the time we left, I was nervous and uncomfortable to enroll our baby anywhere.  The woman who ran the daycare seemed nice enough, but her house was full of stuff choking hazards.  We were not thrilled with the clutter.

But it was the outside of her daycare that sealed it.  We walked out back, and there was a small patio that was crammed full of plastic toys.  We barely had any room to walk past THE PIT BULLS that were chained beside the play area.

The owner assured us that the dogs were very gentle with children...they just hated adults.

Ummmm...not cool.  Not cool at all.  What if your dogs think my kid is a very, very small adult?

Steve and I weren't willing to bet our baby's face on her word, so we continued the search.  I will never forget moments like that.  It's awesome when you have been with someone for a few years, and you know with just a glance what the other is thinking.

We could not get out of there fast enough.

  1. I would have been right behind you! Yikes. I'm glad you kept looking. I can't imagine a daycare with pitbulls! Why would anyone think that's ok?! Stacey

  2. This is not 'child care' this is 'child endangerment'. Glad you fled! Getting to know your funny and outspoken husband through your Laswell stories, I am surprised he did not say something. But so glad you were sharing the same thoughts.
