May 17, 2015

I was looking through pictures tonight, making sure that I have a back-up of the important ones.

Try as I might, I still can't process everything.  I know that Steve lived to the longest length of time expected with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer (six months)...and still, in my mind, it seems so fast.

I apologize for being a broken record...but to have him go from a relatively okay 245-pound guy to death in six short months is difficult to comprehend.

  1. I still can't comprehend Dave's death. I know he is gone. I know he isn't coming back. I just can't believe it.

  2. You are not a broken record, Debbie. Think of it this way: You were traveling on a nice, smooth, four-lane highway when suddenly, and without warning, your lane closed -- and you have to take a new, unfamiliar road. A completely different, winding, up-and-down one you've never traveled on before. It will take lots of time to adjust to this different path and the people who care about you understand this. We're all just SO PROUD OF YOU for continuing to move forward on this new road - when it would be so easy to pull off to the side of the road and stop.
We know you have really hard days, Debbie. But think of your family, friends and neighbors as your personal AAA (American Automobile Association) team. We're here to help you along this journey - detours and road construction included!

  3. You've been through so much in the last couple of years. Thinking of you today. <3

  4. I am not sure you will be able to comprehend this--ever. But you will maneuver through the rapid-fire changes that you have come to know as 'life'. And death. This is more than any of us could ever handle...but you are learning and teaching us how to do it. Not too much comfort in this post, but know this: we are here listening and know that the last months of your life have been truly, beyond comprehension.
