May 4, 2015

Just a tiny little update before bed...my first day back at work was good.  It was great to see many of my coworkers and friends!  With nine new associates in the orientation I was facilitating, the day flew by quickly.

My mother took the kiddos to daycare and picked them up for me today.  I was very grateful for the help so that I could completely focus on my work.  Tomorrow, I am on my own.  I have all of our clothes laid out, and we are ready to go.  This parenthood thing requires a lot more planning ahead than when it was just Stevie and me.

Lots of coughing going on around here this evening...but we are surviving.

Sleep tight.

  1. Glad you had a good day. When the boys were little, and we had to make an early start, I learned a few tricks that helped. I bought outfits that would not wrikle if slept in, and were comfy to sleep in, like little sweat suits, or tee shirts and shorts. Once the kids stayed reliably dry through the night, I bathed them and dressed them before bed. I would have their shoes and socks, and whatever kind of coat they needed right next to the bed. I would get myself ready and start the car while they were still in bed, come inside, put their shoes, socks and outerwear on, and take them out to the warm car. Half the time, they were still asleep. I always chose day care that would feed them breakfast, as they definately were not in the mood to eat that early, especially on a cold, dark, early morning. I also did NOT worry about matching socks. I conceded defeat to the dryer sock monster early on. Fruit of the Loom and Hanes make comfy, gray sweat socks for boys, that match all but really dressy outfits. Just wash them and keep them in a laundry basket,. Don't even bother folding them. You will always have matching socks for Oz. I am sure that you can find one type of girly sock to match most of Poppy's things as well. Your life will be so much easier if you eliminate the matching sock war. If you want to irritate me, and cause me to stage a Come to Jesus meetin' with you, go right ahead and complain that your husband got the kids ready for school, and he didn't even make sure they had matching socks. I will go all postal and ballistic. Psych nurses will have to be called in to chemically restrain me. The National Guard will be called in because I will create a one woman riot. Matching socks are so low on the list of things you need to worry about in this life. I know you get it Debbie. I just hope your readers get it too, because I really can't be held responsible for my actions if someone complains about kids not having matching socks.

  4. I am so happy I was blessed to be part of your first day back. Having my back-to-hrh orientation the same day you came back will be a memorable special thing. I prayed often for you throughout the day. You did great as usual, your fun-spirited you!!!
