The Story About A Valentine's Day Craving

On Valentine's Day several years ago now, we decided to go to a Indiana Pacers game downtown and spend the night at a hotel within walking distance of Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Pacers were playing the Miami Heat that night.  We had great seats and were really looking forward to an awesome date.  Can you still call it a date when you are married?

We checked into the hotel after work, then Steve wanted to sit in the hot tub by the pool for a while before the game.  Have I mentioned how much that dude LOVES hot tubs?  He could sit in a hot tub for hours and hours.

We walked over to Conseco, bought an (expensive!) adult beverage and settled in for the game.  By the end of the first quarter, it was clear that it was going to be a disappointing blow-out...and not in favor of our Pacers.  The Heat were up by 20-25 points for the entire game.  It was difficult to watch.

We lost our enthusiasm for paying attention to the game and happily chatted and drank a couple more beverages.  By the time we walked back to the hotel, our zeal for a beautiful Valentine's Day meal had turned into a more basic and instinctual crave for...you guessed it!...WHITE CASTLE.

Don't judge.  If you haven't experienced the magic of White Castle...you must...soon.

And when we woke up the next day, it was like there had been a beautiful blizzard in our room, but instead of snow...cheesy White Castle wrappers.  It was my most memorable Valentine's Day.

Sometimes the simplest of dates are the best ones, aren't they?

  1. LOL! The first time I came back to Indy for a visit after moving to CO, my dad picked me up from the airport and told me he'd take me any where I wanted to go out to eat for supper. Imagine his shock when I immediately yelled out, White Castle!

    1. Soooooo yummy! I haven't had White Castle for a long time. Years ago, I had a friend who would go there for lunch with me. People tend to only think of White Castle for late-night. I like to think out-of-the-box and go for breakfast and lunch! :)
