The Story About Loitering

Yesterday, on the way to the Cancer Center, I asked Steve if he wanted a cold fountain drink from the Thornton's down the street, per our usual routine.  He often wants a small unsweetened tea, and my addiction-of-choice is a large Diet Mountain Dew.

When I pulled up, nothing looked unusual, but when I got inside, I bet there were 40 people milling about.  At least 12 were grouped by the fountain sodas.  I was worried that my transaction would take far too long...but noticed they were all just kind of hanging out.  I got the drinks and quickly left.

When I hopped in the car, I told Steve about all of the people, and we located the partially-hidden bus that must have transported them.  Since a busload is a rare phenomenon at that particular Thornton's, I said in passing..."I wonder what they are all doing there...".

Even in his weak state, this time Steve responded right away, "They're probably taking advantage of the free refills."

First genuine laugh I had in a few days.
