The Story About Family Pictures

Back in December, a dear friend from work asked if I would like some maternity pictures taken.  She is close friends with an amazing photographer, Lindsay Fletcher.  I was hesitant since I have preconceived notions about maternity pictures...and because I've never really been the type to shape a heart from my fingers and place them over my bare pregnant belly, I wasn't sure if we could do something subdued that was more in my style.

NOTE:  There is absolutely nothing wrong with a finger-heart over stomach...just feels awkward for me.  Some people can TOTALLY work the finger heart.  :)

I was frightened, but in order to get some nice family pictures, we went forward.  :)

I wrote a post about it back in early December, but the photographs were really beautiful.  My friend contacted me last week and said that Lindsay wanted to come back and take some new family photographs.  Lindsay is a lovely soul...seriously, one of the nicest people I've met...and this was such an amazing offer.  So, we scheduled a bit of time and went forward.

Lindsay is high-energy and very creative.  She was wonderful with Poppy and Oz! I would recommend her in a heartbeat.  I am in awe of how much she has done for a family she didn't even know.  What a treasure this woman is.

These are just a few of my favorite pictures that she took that day:

In the meantime, my sister has been using a photographer to capture her childrens' milestones for several years now.  This amazing woman...Shelly Owens Dibble...contacted my sister  and asked if she might take some newborn photographs of Oz as a gift.  Shelly worked with us last year for a Valentine's Day mini-session of my nieces and Poppy.  The pictures were terrific!

Here are a few photos from the mini-Valentine's Day session 2014.  Can you believe how tiny Poppy is?...

Shelly has been so kind to my family.  She constantly checked in with Steve to make sure that he was doing okay and engaged Poppy...which isn't always easy.  I would also highly recommend her if you need a photographer.

Shelly seems like she has never met a stranger.  After the session, Steve was convinced we needed to hire Shelly as our nanny, because she is soooo amazing with children.

Again, we are extremely grateful for these opportunities and want to share how wonderful both of these ladies are.

Both Lindsay and Shelly gave freely of a huge amount of time and expertise.  I realize that it is not just the travel and session time, but also editing and more.

Another amazing photographer, Denise Russell, a close high school friend, also offered to come to Indianapolis to capture pictures.  We are very fortunate to have been offered all of these resources.  Pictures are some of the greatest gifts we have received.

These are just a few photographs that Shelly has shared so far:

Thank you so much to Lindsay Fletcher and Shelly Owens Dibble...as well as Stephanie Swann and Brenda Roy for facilitating these sessions.  Oh...and our wardrobe, lighting and transportation helpers...Jan & Larry Laswell, Donna Barnell, Cindy and Ashlynn Waddle.

I cannot thank all of you enough.
