I forget the first time I had pine nuts. I think it was when my dear friend, Allan, made me an amazing salad in 1997. I am going to gross many of you out here when I list the ingredients, but that salad was the most awesome salad I've ever had. Don't knock it until you try it...greens, pears, blue cheese, pine nuts, balsamic vinaigrette.
I don't even want to hear it. It was SOOOO good. For realz.
Anyway, Steve never really liked nuts, but I told him about pine nuts once. They are delicious, but very expensive. He tried them and liked them a lot, as well.
It drove me crazy when he would make a salad for us and mistakenly think he bought pine nuts, but had purchased their lower-class sibling...the sesame seed : ). He would douse a salad in some sesame seeds.
I tried to pretend it was just as yummy, but there's really nothing like a pine nut!
It is good to remember the things about Steve that drove you nuts.
