We live close to a wonderful gourmet pizza joint, Jockamo. It opened the same week that we closed on the house in 2007.
Before we had babies, we used to sit and eat there occasionally...lately we had been doing carry-out more often. There is a server that we got to know a little bit. She was always super sweet.
On one particular visit, we sat down and ordered. It seemed like an inordinate amount of time passed, and our pizza still wasn't done. Normally, they are rather quick. It had been about 45 minutes.
I was having a good time talking to Steve, so I didn't question it too much, but once it was going on an hour, I started getting a bit antsy. The server seemed to notice my increasing dissatisfaction and stopped by our table. She told us that our pizza was nearly ready and that she was sorry for the wait.
After she left our table, I noticed her in the kitchen area talking to staff. I could just tell that the order had been forgotten, and it hadn't been started yet.
A few minutes later, she came back to our table and said with gusto, "It's just finishing up...getting all cheesy and bubbly." Having seen the conversation between staff members though, I asked, "It hasn't been made or put in the oven yet, has it?"
"No, it hasn't," she sheepishly admitted.
So, we enjoyed one more beer while we waited. And from then on, rather frequently, if something was taking a really long time, we would say to each other, "It's just getting all cheesy and bubbly!"
Gotta love Jockamo's. Not to make this post into some big, sappy philosophical rant, but I want you to know: better days laced with joy are coming. "It's just getting all cheesy and bubbly." Wonderful to meet you yesterday. :)
