So I think I've mentioned before that Steve and I read a great deal of parenting books and talked a lot about parenting on our walks. There was one book that recommended no TV at all until a child is at least 18 months.
It wasn't really by design in the end, but I really hadn't put Poppy in front of the TV much. Recently though, I have learned that when I need just a couple of moments to get her dinner warmed up or deal with Oz...sometimes a bit of Sesame Street works wonders.
I had told you that I was concerned that maybe I was letting her watch a little too much TV when I heard her cheering that the screen saver had changed. After the past few days, I am pretty certain that the TV is on too much.
The evidence: Everyday when we get home from daycare, she runs into the living room and looks at the blank TV screen. She points to it immediately and says, "Uh Oh!"
I am smiling. I do not own a tv so when staying with my grandsons, I am befuddled by the remotes. Once, when my grandson was much younger, I was trying to figure it out. Alas...finally I got a blue screen. He looked at me and said, "Nice job." That was it. Could not figure out how to get an image. I looked at him and said, "Hey....you want to do some puzzles?" He smiled and that was it. About too much tv....I truly doubt that you are exposing her to too much. Sesame Street rocks. Can't get too much of it. :)
