The Story About DVDs

I had something in mind to write this evening, but then I walked out into the living room, and Poppy was holding a DVD in one hand and pointing to a portable DVD player with the other.  She looked up at me and said, "Uh-oh."

Uh-oh is right, little girl!  You are not supposed to remove the DVD!

As I took the DVD out of her sticky little hands, it reminded me of something that Steve used to say.

A few years ago, we realized that instead of buying cheap movies at Big Lots to watch, we could get them even cheaper through a marvelous organization called...The Library.  Seriously, I hadn't been to a library in so long, I didn't realize that it is so easy to do searches of anything online, reserve your selections, and just go into the building to pick them up.

What happened to Dewey Decimal?  Ha!  I know!  I'm completely behind the times.

Anyhoo...we started to order up dozens of DVDs.  Occasionally, we would pop one in, ready for a delightful outdoor movie fest on the back porch, and the movie would begin skipping or refuse to play.

Invariably, Steve would take the DVD out of the player, examine the scratches and fingerprints and then say, "I think babies were chewing on this one."

Kind of funny that now OUR baby is the one 'chewing on' DVDs.

  1. Well, devouring a good dvd is a good way to digest its content, I suppose. I know. This is an awful post. Most folks hate puns. I really kinda like them. You know, play on words, moronic connections. Hmmm...I wonder...did Steve like puns? I've been told they are the lowest class of humor. Oh....and Dewey Decimal? Yeah, he's still kicking. A bit of a relic yet a true friend to librarians. By the way...there's no nutritional value in eating dvds. Just sayin'.
