The Story About Craigslist #2

So, a couple of days after Strange Piano Guy visited, I was selling the 55-gallon fish tank and all accessories.  It made me a little sad, but there was just no way to take all of it with us...and honestly, I'm just not up for maintaining a huge tank right now.

The loveliest young couple contacted me and came to look at it.  Since November, the tank and four totes full of fish stuff had been housed in the garage.  I took this husband and wife back to the garage, trying to explain on the way the reason why the house was so empty...why I was taking them to the garage...why I was selling it.  I should have just stopped while I was ahead.

I blathered on and on and on...until finally I mumbled something about my husband being the one who was interested in fish, but he passed away.  After which, I promptly burst into tears.

I apologized quickly, acknowledging that this was likely one of the weirdest Craigslist experiences that they encountered.  They told me it wasn't, but I kind of assume that you'd want to appease the emotionally unstable girl.

They took all of the fishy stuff.  The husband handed me money...a little bit too much.  When I went to get change, he promptly told me to keep it.  Hopefully, I didn't frighten them too much.

  1. You are not an emotionally unstable girl. I bet it was good for that young couple to realize we are not promised tomorrow and to cherish the time they have together. I would be worried if you didn't cry. You are awesome and amazing. Love you, Becky Wiley
