In front of the local Kroger grocery store, there is an awesome little bump in the road.
Each day, on the way home from school, as we go through the major intersection prior to the bump, I say softly at first, "Are you ready, guys?" And then louder, "ARE YOU READY? Do you want to go FAST???"
And then I try to time it perfectly and hope that no one cuts in front of us. Sometimes, there is a total buzzkill that has to slow down to eight miles an hour to ensure that the bump doesn't jostle their vehicle (in my head, I said the last part of that sentence in an English accent. Not sure why.).
Anyway...if everything works out, I have a few car lengths in front of us, and just gun it. Poppy always knows what is coming now. And then just for a second or two, the three of us totally 'Thelma and Louise' it over the bump. We leave the ground for just a moment, and it is quiet. It is the most awesome split second.
Everyday, I raise my arms in victory and cheer all the way to the next stoplight. Everyday, Poppy laughs her head off. And everyday, I'm sure Oz thinks we are nuts.
But it's our moment. And it's crazy and fun, and I love it.
I love this, Debbie!! :-) Beth B.
