The Story About The Bubbaz Challenge

I mentioned that Todd came into town this weekend from Seattle.  Steve and Todd have known each other for years.  And you know...their lives have changed drastically...their musical tastes...their diets...their physical appearances...their geographical location.  But the one thing that never changes is that they are always there for each other for the big stuff.

One of the first times I met Todd, we caught up with him and other dear friends at Bubbaz Sports Bar.  It was a great place to meet up and centrally located.  Steve and Todd were being silly that night.  I would like to think that Steve was showing off because we had just started dating, but honestly, I think that he is always up for any ridiculous bet or challenge.  So...in a nutshell...Steve's ability to ingest massive quantities of ketchup was called into question.  How could he possibly let that go?  He had no choice but to defend his honor.

Steve prepared mentally.  Todd took two of the red ketchup squirt bottles from surrounding tables and when Stevie indicated his approval, Todd proceeded to squeeze the entire contents of both into Steve's mouth.  It wasn't pretty.

Shortly after the challenge was successfully completed, I nervously saw our server stomping toward our table.  She snatched all of the condiments off of the table and said..."Not only is that disgusting for you, it is disgusting for us!"  She was appalled at our behavior.  I remember being so scared, because I'd never been kicked out of any establishment, but we seemed awfully close.

As she angrily walked off with the last ketchup, Todd goaded, "Can we keep just one?"  And when met with resistance, he kept at it..."What if we order fries?"

And even though it was immature, and I felt badly for our very offended server, I suppressed a teeny giggle, since no person or animal was harmed in the Great Ketchup Challenge of 2007.  :)

    1. Too funny! I have always kept an extra bottle in the cupboard for fear we would run out. I don't know what he would do!
